Subject pronouns:
I – ja
you – ti
he – on
she – ona
it – ono
we – mi
you (plural) – vi
they – oni

Present Tense – Sadašnje vreme
to study – učiti
I study – ja učim
you study – ti učiš
he studies – on uči
she studies – ona uči
it studies – ono uči
we study – mi učimo
you (plural) study – vi učite
they study – oni uče

In order to form the present tense, the suffix “ti” is omitted from the infinitive (učiti), and that is how the stem is formed (uči). We apply the suffixes to a stem in order to form the present tense:
-m -mo
-š -te
/ -e/-u/-ju
The suffixes for all the persons except for the third person plural are always the same, for all the verbs. The third person plural can end in three different ways: “e”, “u”, or “ju” – depending on the last letter of the stem.
1) If the stem ends in “i”:
he works – radi
– “they” form ends in “e”:
they work – rade
2) If the stem ends in “e”:
he eats – jede
– “they” form ends in “u”:
they eat – jedu
3) If the stem ends in “a”:
he sleeps – spava
– “they” form ends in “ju”
they sleep – spavaju
